photographing, cooking, laughing through life

May 1…May Day…When I was younger my sister and I would make May Day baskets to take to our neighbors.  We would create the baskets, fill them with candy and some flowers and do the traditional ring the doorbell, leave the baskets and run.  It was always something I thought was fun…a cute tradition.

Today’s photo is inspired by those May Days of my childhood.  As was often the case, the most abundant flowers we had to put in the baskets were flowers from our spirea bushes.  At my house I have one of these pretty and easy to grow bushes and three days ago there were no flowers on the bush.  I guess the saying, “April showers bring May flowers” is true, because here it is, May 1 and the bush is completely full of flowers.

Happy May Day everyone!
