Today was the big day to celebrate Rebecca’s birthday. I started off the day by taking our carry-in contest submissions to the state journalism contest at KU. Then I headed to the Deanna Rose Farmstead in Overland Park where the birthday party was being held. I (as always) took a ton of pictures…so instead of writing down everything we did at the farmstead, I will just let the captions do the talking.
When we first arrived we found our "hutch" where we would have cake and open presents
Then it was time to explore. K-State Research and Extention has a beautiful garden with fun cutouts for pictures.
We made our way across the farmstead to the biggest draw for Rebecca...feeding the ducks. There were quite a few baby ducks.
Becs and MeMa fed the ducks...and she LOVED it. It was nice that we were there in the morning...it was beautiful.
We went to the playground next, but the slides were still wet from the rain last night, so we went to the water pumps...here's Becs pumping some water.
We headed back to the hutch to open presents and eat cake...Rebecca put on her cowboy hat given to her by the farmstead, but not everyone else was back yet...so we went to explore some more
Since we already fed the ducks, it was time to feed the fish - and there were A LOT of them!
Finally it was time for presents...note to the other party attendees...4 year olds like to rip paper - they do not like bags...remember this.
Rebecca and her Nana made the cake and cupcakes yesterday after preschool. She did a good job decorating the cakes...and she did a good job of eating the cake too!
After cake, and before we were able to leave, Rebecca had to check out the slides one last time. Thankfully they were dry..so she got to enjoy the slides before we left!
All in all, it was a good party and I know that Rebecca had a great time.
