photographing, cooking, laughing through life

November 3, 2011

I had the pleasure of working with 9 fantastic and hard-working sophomore and junior athletes this season as the JV volleyball coach.  Tonight was the official end to our year as we remembered the season at the annual banquet. Because it was my first year coaching, it was my first year to “get” to speak at the banquet. Every day I talk in front of groups of kids, I frequently speak (as an announcer) in front of hundreds of people at a time…and I never get nervous. Tonight, I was nervous. However, once I got up front and started talking about my girls and our season, the nerves went away.

I am so glad I said “yes” this time to coaching. I’ve had a great group of girls to work with, and even though our record wasn’t great, I feel like the girls gained some valuable experience and improved their skills throughout the year. We had some fun memories on bus trips, at games and during practice (and I won’t bore you will all of those here), so tonight’s photos are two of my team. The first photo is a “normal” photo of the girls and the second is them doing their traditional “Mocha” sign…long story…
