Pack Dallas With Purple…Go Cats! (#5)
The day began bright and early in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma…eating breakfast with (you guessed it) some K-State fans at the hotel. We got in the car and headed for Dallas. Because we were going to the Cotton Bowl, we thought it was only appropriate that we actually go to where the original Cotton Bowl games were held. Although I am a little sad that it isn’t still held in the historical stadium, the fact that we will get to go to the Cowboys stadium makes up for it. It was fun to see the iconic stadium this morning before heading to the pep rally for some fun with 20,000 or so of my closest friends.
After spending some time in Grapevine – eating at Tolbert’s (some delicious chili) and doing some shopping – we made our way to the hotel and then to the pep rally. The pep rally was held at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington (just across the parking lot from the Cowboys Stadium). Honestly, it was probably the only available place that could have held all of us. After waiting until 4 for them to open the doors, we got to head into the stadium…let’s just say, there were quite a few people.
They estimate there were upwards of 20,000 people…and it sure seemed like it. After enjoying some videos on the video board and some songs by the band, it was time for the show to start. It couldn’t start without a visit from Willie!
Then it was time for all of the speakers, Wyatt Thompson, AD John Currie, President Kirk Schultz, alumni association members…and then the team. Team captains talked and of course Coach Snyder, and finally, special guest – Terence Newman – former Wildcat and current Dallas Cowboy. It was great to hear from everyone and the pep rally made me even more excited for the game tomorrow night! I can’t wait!
