Time to do a little sweepin’ #13
For most Friday the 13th signifies bad luck…well Friday the 13th (the first of 3 this year that are 13 weeks apart…) for the Emporia High Spartan basketball teams was definitely NOT bad luck. The Shawnee Heights T-Birds were in town and both the girls and boys teams wanted to secure a league victory at home. The girls were hot from the start…and stayed that way, defeating Shawnee Heights 52-29 – it was a great effort all the way around for the Lady Spartans and a much needed decisive win. For the boys, the first half found the Spartans struggling to get in the flow of the game…and they were trailing by 3 at the half. They were able to pull ahead by 1 at the end of the 3rd and then pulled away in the fourth to win by seven. It was nice to get a varsity sweep over the T-Birds…and both teams can look ahead to next week which brings some tough games for the girls and a tournament in Chanute for the boys.
Tonight, the student section did a good job of being in the game…and they have started to do the “roller coaster” during the end of the 3rd quarter break…which is what is pictured in today’s photo of the day. Glad that the Spartans’ Friday the 13th was a lucky one!!
