Too young for American Idol auditions. #35

Today was a great day to get to spend some time with family in Kansas City.  When we headed to Sara and Tom’s I knew I would be asked to be in a “rock band” with Becs…

First off I’d like to “thank”  The Fresh Beat Band for introducing my niece to rock bands – we have to practice in the practice room before heading out to perform for our audience. She has quite a few musical instruments – a recorder, a xylophone, a microphone and of course the pink guitar we got in Texas – and she has quite a repertoire of songs…”ABC,” “Row, Row, Row Your Boat,” “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Yes…even though we are a month and a half removed from Christmas, that gem remains in our set.

We performed for everyone our quartet of songs, and then we went to practice more.  I’m actually pretty impressed that she has learned Twinkle Twinkle on the xylophone and we started to learn Row Your Boat today, but she kept getting frustrated and decided to be a grump over the whole thing. That’s when I decided to take charge of the guitar and do a little ad libbing entitled, “Grumpy Gus.” Basically I was “singing” all of the things Rebecca was doing and saying that she was being a Grumpy Gus…she got out of her funk and, of course, she had to return the favor.

It’s always fun spending time with family.

The infamous pink guitar.
