All day wait is worth it. #56

The way the state wrestling tournament is set up, those wrestlers who win three matches on Friday are in the championship round…but the trick is, they have to wait ALL day to compete.  As they watch other wrestlers win and lose throughout the day, they sit there, waiting for the long day to finally make it to the championship finals.  Emporia High had one wrestler make it to the finals…Brandon Charbonneau.

I took close to 1500 pictures today – some will appear in the gazette on Monday, a few from Brandon’s match will appear here, I will post some on Facebook after the paper comes out Monday and one you can see HERE.

Here are a few highlights from Brandon’s match:

Scoring a point with an escape.

Celebrating a 3-1 victory...and a 44-0 year.

Sharing the moment with his dad, head coach Dennis Charbonneau

Atop the medal stand.

We had 5 other medal winners: Skyler Carlson took 6th, Bryce Dakin and Dylan Jackson took 5th and Max Detwiler and Noel Torres took 4th.

All in all I enjoyed my day at the 5A state wrestling tournament…but I think I’m ready for bed now!!
