“Pin”spiration Week 9 – New Clothes Hamper!

One of the first things I pinned on Pinterest was THIS cute painted trash can.  I took a little different spin on it and made a clothes hamper – that is complete Hank proof.  I also want to kick myself because I forgot to take pictures while I was painting…so there aren’t any of that, but I’ll walk you through what I did.

I started out purchasing a metal trash can, but if you have an old one that you don’t use anymore, it would be perfect to use for that.

Next, you need to prime it.  I found a good spray-on primer at True Value…and I found a nice, warm day to do the priming!

I figure I can just mow the lawn...and the paint will go away! Okay...so maybe I should have used a drop cloth...

After the primer dries, paint the can fully with whatever paint you choose.  I chose a glossy paint and I love how it turned out.  For the liner, you can make your own, or do what I did…just find a laundry bag in the color you want! If you would rather use this for an actual trash can there is a cool tutorial on the original link for a trash can “scrunchy”

Here is my finished product…

I chose a deep purple - with a khaki laundry bag.

I love how this turned out – it matches my bedspread perfectly! Not to mention, it should be totally Hank proof!

Looks great...and I'm glad I finally made one of my first pins!
